A Procedural Toolbox is a collection of equipment, methods, techniques and ways to analyze data that you can use when conducting experiments or when trying to design an investigation or experiment of your own. Toolboxes often contain two types of tools, those that can be used for a variety of tasks and those that are used for only a few, specific types of jobs. However, even those tools that are used for only a few, specific types of tasks can be combined with other tools to complete a larger project.

Inside the Procedural Toolbox you will find both types of tools. Some tools such as how to construct a graph can be used in many different types of experiments. Other tools such as an oxygen meter or triple beam balance can only be used to measure one specific type of substance or one property of matter. However, in your Core Experiences you will see that many tools are used in different investigations and used to answer different questions. After using each tool in the Procedural Toolbox, you will be able to decide which tools are needed for each investigation you encounter or even one you design on your own.
