PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT FOCUS

• Within the CELL, this Performance Assessment is designed to:
• Provide students an opportunity to consider holding a career in the STEM field;
• Encourage students to research one particular STEM career and describe its aspects of science, technology, engineering, and math;
• Strengthen research writing skills.

PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT PROTOCOL

1. Think about having a career in the STEM field. Is there an area of STEM that interests you? Or perhaps you know someone already working in the STEM field.
2. Write a research paper describing a STEM career that interests you. Include the following components:

• The STEM career is clearly introduced and many of its aspects are described in detail;
• The work environment is described in detail;
• The required college coursework and preferred degrees are identified;
• The aspects of science, technology, engineering, and math are clearly presented in detail;
• A personal explanation of how to prepare for this career in the current time is clearly described;
• Overall information of the research paper is very organized with well-constructed paragraphs and subheadings;
• All sources (information and graphics) are accurately documented in the desired format;
• Grammar, spelling, and punctuation are correct.
