PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT FOCUS

Within the CELL, this Performance Assessment is designed to:

• allow students to utilize their knowledge of properties of compounds as they observe properties of an unknown solution and compare it to six compounds.
• encourage students to apply their knowledge of properties of compounds as they predict the identity of the unknown solute and solvent based on their observations.
• promote problem-solving skills by encouraging students to find appropriate solutions to problems.
• assess students’ understanding of pH.
• assess students’ understanding of solubility and saturation point.
• assess students’ understanding of chemical reactions.
