Phase 2 – Dynamic Understanding

Investigation One Summary – Lab Goals

In Investigation One, you analyzed how chemical compounds react in a chemical reaction to produce other chemical compounds and sometimes heat. During this Investigation, you:

1. Examined chemical reactions using the following reactants:

a. ammonium hydroxide (NH4OH)

b. hydrochloric acid (HCl)

2. Constructed a calorimeter to measure the temperature change resulting from the chemical reactions.

3. Observed any changes in the liquid chemical that may have occurred as a result of the chemical reactions.

Investigation One Summary – Learning Goals

Through these experiments, students will conclude that:

  1. As the amounts of the reactants increase, the amounts of the products produced also increase.
