Investigation Three Summary – Elements and Conductivity of Electricity

In Investigation Three, you further investigated the properties of elements and their groupings on the Periodic Table of the Elements. During this Investigation, you:

1. Tested the conductivity of electricity of the following elements using a multimeter:

  • Copper
  • Magnesium
  • Sulfur
  • Iron
  • Zinc
  • Carbon
  • Aluminum

Investigation Three Summary – Learning Goals

Through these experiments, you concluded that:

Elements from the metal and nonmetal groups have different physical and chemical properties. One difference in physical properties is the ability to conduct electricity. Elements that are metals have the ability to conduct electricity while elements that are nonmetals do not.
