► Investigation Three Summary – Lab Goals
In Investigation Three, you compared and contrasted the organelle structures in plant and animal cells. During this Investigation, you:
1. Using the microscope, looked to compare and contrast the cell wall, cell membrane, nucleus, chloroplast, and cytoplasm in the following cell specimens:
- Onion section
- Cheek cell
- Blood smear
- Elodea leaf
- Elodea stem
- Large intestine
► Investigation Three Summary – Learning Goals
Through these experiments, you concluded that:
1. Plant cells generally contain a nucleus, a cell wall, a cell membrane, chloroplasts, and cytoplasm. However, under a magnification of 100X, it is not possible to differentiate between the cell wall and the cell membrane. In addition, not all plant cells contain chloroplasts. Animal cells generally contain a nucleus, a cell membrane, and cytoplasm. However, some animal cells, such as red blood cells, do not contain nuclei.
2. Based on observations of different cells from the Elodea plant and human tissue, the cells in an organism may differ from tissue to tissue.
